About Us

Eco-Bloom Gardens

We are a landscaping company based near Wells in Somerset. As a purposefully small team, we focus on thoughtful, well-built gardens that feel calm, natural and built to last.

Many of the gardens we create include wildlife-friendly elements such as ponds, streams, pollinator planting, hedgehog holes, bird boxes, insect habitats and meadow areas. These features are introduced in ways that keep the garden enjoyable and easy to live with.

We believe good gardens come from careful thinking, good materials and taking the time to do things properly.

Our aim is simple: take the time to do a good job and create gardens where people, plants and wildlife can thrive together

Ryan Wynn

I’ve always loved making things. These days that usually means gardens which feel calm, yet captivating, and designed to last.

I come from a family of makers and started working in our family repair business as a young teenager. Over time I also trained in carpentry, paving, pond building and garden design, building a broad range of skills along the way.

I also studied Art & Design extensively, including a postgraduate degree in sculpture at the Royal College of Art. That experience still shapes how I approach gardens today, always carefully considering the space, the materials and how everything sits together. Spending several years training as a sculptor has a way of changing how you look at the world (mostly for the better).

At the Royal College of Art during the COVID period my work went outside even more than usual, with my garden becoming another studio. Then the work gradually extended into other people’s gardens and this blossomed (excuse the pun) into Eco-Bloom Gardens.

I’ve always loved learning, solving problems and making lovely things that last while enjoying the process along the way. All the experiences that I’ve gathered over the years help me bring a thoughtful, creative and practical approach to every garden.

Our Story (The Short Version)

Eco-Bloom began in February 2022 with a “little favour”. Ryan stepped in to repair the main gate at a local care home in Wells. While walking around the site he noticed many small things that needed fixing — something that turned out to be quite common locally.

He began helping people with home and garden improvements, in the early days the business ran from a tiny yellow car with a boot that could carry two toolboxes. Neither the car nor Ryan enjoyed its new life as a maintenance truck, so it was soon replaced with a real van within a few weeks.

Today Eco-Bloom operates from a workshop in Coxley with a yard, a much larger van and a small, friendly team. The tools may have multiplied slightly, but the approach remains the same: take our time, do a good job and be kind.

Our Story – The Long Version (Only if you’re curious, otherwise feel free to skip ahead)

It all began in 2022 with a “little favour” for a friend while recovering from a particularly nasty virus. On February 12th (Ryan’s birthday), he stepped up to repair the main gate at a local care home.

Walking around the place, he realised many things needed fixing and no one had either the inclination and/or the skills to do so. As it turned out, this was a common problem in his local community of Wells.

Over the next few months he began carrying out home and garden improvements (growing up with enthusiastic property-developing parents helped here), as well as gardening (always a passion since childhood), doing small things that could make a big difference. At the time he thought this might allow a much better work–life balance. He became very busy very quickly, so the work–life balance part didn’t quite go to plan (it is improving… rather slowly). What did happen, though, was that he quickly built up a base of happy, repeat customers.

In the early days things were pretty basic. Ryan bought a little yellow car for less than the cost of changing one tyre on his rather nice 4×4, loaded it with the two toolboxes it could squeeze in the boot and set off with a determined, positive outlook, a willingness to work hard, learn every day (often after hours), and do things to the best of his ability, regardless of the size of the job.

The car proved more Shetland pony than workhorse, so it was soon replaced with a little van — the start of a progression that eventually led to our current Mercedes Sprinter.

From the beginning the focus was always the same: take the time needed to do the job well.

As the business grew, so did the tools, vehicles and skills behind them. More training followed in areas such as paving, decking, drainage, horticulture and garden design, and over time the team slowly grew as well. The number of toolboxes rapidly increased (somewhere around twenty they stopped being counted) along with the spades in a whole range of shapes and sizes (each one makes at least one job much easier to do properly) and everything else needed to build good gardens well.

Today Eco-Bloom operates from a workshop in Coxley, with a storage yard, a much larger van and a lovely little team working together.

The equipment and the team may have grown, but the message remains the same:

Take our time.
Do a good job.
Be kind and enjoy the moment, its called the present for a reason.

Our Approach

No two gardens are exactly the same, and we believe the best results come from responding carefully to each space and the people who will use it.

That is why our approach is always personal, practical and rooted in long-term thinking — creating outdoor spaces that feel calm, useful and quietly distinctive.

We take pride in working carefully, using good materials and taking the time needed to do things properly. Thoughtful preparation, solid construction and attention to detail all help create gardens that not only look good when finished, but continue to grow and mature well over time.

Eco-Bloom is about creating gardens where people feel comfortable and connected to the natural world around them. Spaces where people, plants and wildlife can thrive together.

Our Manufacturers

The materials used in a garden play an important role in how it looks, how it feels and how well it lasts. We work with trusted suppliers and choose materials and manufacturers carefully so each garden performs well over time. This also allows us to offer market-leading manufacturer warranties on many of the products we install.

Aquascape

For ponds, streams and waterfalls we use systems from Aquascape, a well-regarded manufacturer specialising in naturalistic water features. Many of their structural components carry lifetime manufacturer warranties, and their EPDM pond liners are supplied with a 20-year manufacturer’s warranty, helping ensure long-term reliability. Other components such as pumps and lighting are covered by product-specific warranties generally between 2 – 5 years.

Jacksons Fencing

We are approved installers of Jacksons Fencing, supplying and installing premium timber fencing with a 25-year Jakcure guarantee against rot and insect attack, subject to their terms and installation requirements.

Charltons Timber Store

We also work with Charltons, a respected local timber supplier. Their “LongLast” ground-contact timbers, including fence posts and railway-style sleepers, are specially treated and have a 15-year manufacturer warranty against rot.

CORE Pro Edge

Where edging is needed, we often recommend CORE Pro Edge. These durable metal edging systems create strong, discreet borders for gravel, planting areas and paths, and come with a 10-year manufacturer’s warranty. The flexible design allows smooth curves and clean shapes, while remaining quick to install and long-lasting.
